For those aren't that aware Wolfram|Alpha is a tremendous resource of quantitative data, calculations, conversions (including to ft and in as well as decimal feet), and in general is an extensive repository of information that can field human language questions and do advanced maths. If a distance or height is entered, or a conversion having to do with length entered, it'll provide information such as average human height (1.7 m), average human step length, maximum distance viewable from that height, and it'll also do multiples based upon the averages. For example:
Average human height
can see 4657 m
≈0.5 - 0.8x story (8 -10 ft)
≈average human height (1.7 m)
≈2.1 average human step length (69 - 97 cm)
Average US male height
can see 4752 m
≈0.5 - 0.7x story (8 - 10 ft)
≈average human height (1.7 m)
≈2.2x average human step length (69 - 97 cm)
7 feet tall
can see 5217 m
≈0.7 - 0.8x story (8 - 10 ft)
≈1.3 average human height (1.7 m)
≈2.6 average human step length (69 - 97 cm)
Robert Wadlow
can see 5890 m
≈0.9 - 1.1x story (8 - 10 ft)
≈1.6 average human height (1.7 m)
≈3.4 average human step length (69 - 97 cm)
1.77 m is 0.65 times smaller than 2.72 m (Ratio: 1:1.536, 0.65:1)
1.77 m is 0.95 less than 2.72 m
2.72 m 1.1536 times larger than 1.77 m (Ratio: 1:0.65, 1.1536:1)
2.72 m is 0.95 m more than 1.77 m
All the quantities change significantly with height. Wadlow was 1.537x taller than average US man (or average man is 0.6507x as tall as Wadlow). The light travel time in vacuum is an interesting quantity when considering things like time it takes a nerve impulse to travel to/from brain and rest of body or blood flow from heart to/from head and other parts of body. Women and shorter men have an advantage as fighter pilots pulling high g's because of lesser distance from heart to head. I've not seen that one in #tallpeopleproblems. ;-)
