Outgrown your parents?

My dad is 5'9" and I was wearing his hand-me-down clothing to school when I was in fifth grade (so age 10). By the next year, none of his stuff still fit. It didn't really affect my relationship with my dad at all. I still felt very much like the kid that I was - a weird kid, but still a child. I did notice a difference in the way male teachers and other men in town acted about me being taller than them. They generally seemed as uncomfortable about it as I was.
I am an only child, so I have no sibblings to compare to. However, my mom is 5'4, and my dad is 5'7. I should have been shorter by all accounts, but I ended up at 6'0. I am actually the tallest in my family including aunts, uncles, and cousins (the ones I know of anyway).

Probably age 12. I don't remember exactly what height I was at different stages, but as my dad was 6'2" and I'm 6'9", it was pretty early on. My brothers were both taller than my father as well. When we'd go to the All You Can Eat Italian restaurants, the owner would just cry.
I'm pretty sure that my growing days are over, but?....at 5'6", I'm generally regarded as a Miracle of Modern & Scientific Nutrition by my parents. My father's 5'5" ( he LIES on his driver's license, which states that he's 5'9"...I've never figured out if this is a matter of vanity or evading-the-law on his part), and my grandfather (a Welsh immigrant) was 5'1". My two brothers are about an inch taller than I am, so I suppose they win our unimpressive (by most folks' standards) competition. -----david terry www.davidterryart.com

My family is short. I had bigger feet than my dad (Size 8) did when I was 11. I was probably was taller than his 5'7" by the time I was 13 and outweighed his 150 pounds by then too. Just yesterday we used the gas grill to bar-b-que. The valve for the gas is in the basement ceiling. I went down and turned it on. As I was going back up, he was coming down and said, "Did you find the ladder". I said, "I don't need no stinkin' ladder". He's lost some weight and I outweigh him now by just about 100 pounds.
think i outgrew him by the time i was 11. Reached my current height at 13 and stood over a head taller than him at that time. Cnanged our realtionship cause i was taller and stronger and being 13y/o, i LOVED that! 
Wow! A head taller at 13. That's crazy. And I'm sure being so young and having that stature made a difference in the house. lolthink i outgrew him by the time i was 11. Oh yeah, was quite a power rush for me and pretty humiliating to my dad i must admit. Having him totally powerless to me :-D

I out grew my dad at 17 when I reached my present height of 5'10". My dad always said he was 5'11" but I think he was only about 5'9".
