Gay marriage -US Supreme Court.

I was wondering if any of you are following the Gay marriage debate in the US Supreme Court. The justices are set to rule at the end of June if Gay marriage is protected by the constitution. They heard oral arguments last week. While I hope they rule in favor, I have my doubts. I was wondering what others think.

I agree..I have my doubts. However, from what I understand, a negative decision in this case does not mean that gay marriage is banned nationwide, it just means that it will continue to be pushed by the states, which it has been. I think US public opinion has shifted on this, permanently, and we are waiting for the laggards to catch up...

I was really hopeful last October when they turned down all the appeals from the states and Gay marriage was made legal. I had my doubts after hearing the oral arguments last week. Hopefully, things will still turn out OK.

I expect a win on narrow grounds, with the other possibilities being outright defeat or a broader victory. Some semblance of this can be gleaned reading between the lines here http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/29/us/supreme-court-same-sex-marriage.html and this describes why the case is important and that even with a victory that there will be much work to do http://www.huffingtonpost.com/andy-thayer/why-the-next-supreme-cour_b_7121138.html.

One thing that would be puzzling, is they turned down the appeals last October and to make a ruling against Gay marriage now wouldn't make much sense. It would turn everything into a mess in my opinion.
